Shopkeepers back new scheme to keep people safe through cautious re-opening

In North Lincolnshire, a new business program has been launched to reassure local residents if Covid restrictions are lifted.

While many people embrace the new freedoms, others are concerned about the changes – especially at a time when infection rates in North Lincolnshire continue to rise.

Organizations can now keep people calm by following a few simple steps as part of the new Safe and Well Scheme.

The local company San Pietro is one of the first to sign up.

Cllr Rob Waltham, chairman of North Lincolnshire Council, said, “Local businesses have spent significant time and money over the past year and a half securing their premises.

“With public health executives urging caution, it makes sense to keep some of these measures in place while infection rates rise.

“Holding screens, providing hand sanitizer, and encouraging the wearing of masks are small things that make a real difference – both in reducing the spread of Covid-19 and in reducing the fear many people will still experience.

“We want a thriving local economy, and we want people to return to our stores and venues with confidence – this new program gives businesses the confidence that safety is being taken seriously.”

To be part of the program, the companies have agreed:

  • Encourage your employees to get vaccinated.

  • Keep taking preventative measures to stop the spread of Covid-19 to keep employees and customers safe.

  • Support the testing requirements for Covid-19.

  • And encourage the use of face coverings.

Companies then display the Safe and Well Scheme sticker to show customers and employees that they are protecting them.

The program complements the activities currently being carried out in downtown North Lincolnshire under the High Street Safe Reopening Fund and Welcome Back to ensure our public feels safe to return to our city centers.

The reopening of the High Street Safely and Welcome Back Funds will be funded by European funds and Her Majesty’s Government.
