Pictures from the Jubilee pub in Grimsby when England started their 2018 World Cup campaign
We look back on the last time England started a football tournament in the summer and fans went to the pubs to see them
It’s been almost three years since we last saw England in tournament action, but with a 12 month delay, the Euros are finally here.
The Three Lions will play their first group game against Croatia at Wembley Stadium, which promises to be a difficult duel.
Croatia were, of course, the team that broke the hearts of England in July 2018 and denied Gareth Southgate’s team a place in a first World Cup final since 1966 with a 2-1 win in extra time.
But with the start of a new campaign and the chance that the long-awaited cutlery will return again, England fans will head to the pubs to see the team in action.
Of course, with the rule of six and the table service restrictions still in place, it will be a little different than what we normally get in a football summer.
Here we look back on the last game, when England met Tunisia in the opening game of the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
Fans in Grimsby and North East Lincolnshire either tuned in or went to bars and clubs to watch the game live on television.
We went down to join the fans at the Jubilee pub in Grimsby to watch the game’s ups and downs.
Hopefully there will be plenty to laugh about full-time this Sunday too!
