Lincoln City boss outlines selection plans for final league games before play-offs

Michael Appleton has indicated he will make changes for Lincoln City’s last two games as he prepares his side for the League One play-offs.

On Tuesday, the Imps will visit Charlton Athletic, who realistically needs to win to maintain their play-off hopes before hosting the AFC Wimbledon on Sunday (midday start).

Appleton could rest some key players while injured trio Brennan Johnson, Joe Walsh and Adam Jackson are put at risk on Sunday at the earliest, he said. It is unclear how long this will be out.

Harry Anderson was able to keep his place after an impressive return to the side at Peterborough United on Saturday, while Max Sanders, James Jones and Remy Howarth also got some playing time.

“The play-offs are going to be enormous for the football club,” Appleton said at his press conference ahead of the trip to The Valley.

“If we make enough changes and the players step in, they will have a great opportunity to demonstrate their skills and show me that they are more than ready when needed.”
