Richmond Ceramics was hired to install 1,200 square feet of floor tiles in a new restaurant in the Glasshouse in the Beckworth Emporium.

David Brown, owner of Beckworth Emporium, said, “The restaurant floor was an important part of our redesign. Our designers, KVB Design, and I realized the importance of quality workmanship in order to achieve the stunning finish we were looking for. The investment in the highest quality materials had to be underpinned by a precise installation. Richmond Ceramics was recommended to us and they did not disappoint. The team that worked on the installation were thorough, efficient and installed every tile as if it were their first. Fantastic job! Thank you to the entire Richmond Ceramic team. “

The Format series by Solus Ceramics was designed for the requirement of a modern, light and airy appearance. The contemporary concrete look and good slip resistance were important for these public areas.

The large 1200 x 600 mm format looks stunning in this large open area and the Heritage Black & Gray decor complements this by adding character to the restaurant area.

After an on-site visit, Norcros Adhesives drew up an M40 specification for the installation to ensure the best products were used.

The order covered several areas that were a combination of old and new substrates so that permalayer had to compensate for the shrinkage as new concrete cured. Permalayer also allowed tiling to start after just two days, alternatively we would have had to wait 42 days, which is the UK standard recommended curing time before laying on new concrete. This really helped to complete the project on the tight timeframe set by the client.

S1 Rapid Set Adhesive was developed to provide increased protection against background movement loads and to offer greater tolerance to a problematic screed. 4-Into-1 grout was used because it sets quickly, is antibacterial, flexible and water resistant.
